The purpose of this group is to bring home ownership within the reach of every family in the Middle Georgia area and to maintain high professional standards and methods among its members. The HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION OF MACON currently maintains a membership of over two hundred and fifty. The organization serves as the chief spokesman for the building industry in this area.

This professional trade association was organized in 1955 to help local builders and others involved with home construction to better contend with their problems through collective action. Relationships with city and county planning commissions and FHA-VA as well as problems relating to community facilities, building codes, mortgage finance, etc., have been a matter of constant concern. As a result of responsible representation, officials have come to seek the advice and cooperation from the Association in regard to these and many other vital activities.

The Association constantly strives to stimulate home ownership and business activities for the entire community through such promotions as the HOMEXPO (Home Product Show), Parade of Homes and community service projects (i.e. Christmas in April, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt-A-School Program and Newspapers in Education). Our educational programs and seminars have greatly increased the knowledge of Association members enabling them to better serve both themselves and the public. These activities have contributed materially to the progress and growth of the whole local industry as well.

The Association also represents the industry at the state and national levels. Upon joining the local association, a member also becomes affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Georgia and the National Association of Home Builders, receiving their authoritative and important trade publications. NAHB, composed of more than 200,000 member firms across the nation, serves as our source of information on all national legislation.

Services and technical information concerning many specialized fields are constantly provided by the combined local and national organizations. An important by-product of the Association lies with the fellowship and good will generated during exchanges of ideas at meetings as well as the advantages that come from informative program presentations.
